Back Extensions Exercise

Back Extensions Exercise
 by: John Gibb

If youre looking for a way to strengthen your lower back, back extensions may be the exercise for you. If youve recently injured your back youll want to consult your physician before attempting such an exercise. If you find this exercise is a bit too challenging for you at first, you can start out in an incline positioned until you are more comfortable with the exercise. Or, if you find this exercise too easy for you, you can do it in a declined position or use platted weights in front of the chest or behind the neck.

For this exercise you will either need a back extension machine, or a bench that allows you to securely position your feet so that the rest of your body wont move during the exercise. You will be lying on your front side and everything about an inch below your hips should be on the bench or back extension machine.

From this position fold your arms across your chest. Now, begin the movement by bending at the waist. You should continue this movement until you feel youve reached the full motion of your range. This will be different for everyone, so its up to you to determine. From here, raise your body back up slowly and hold your body at this position for a second. Repeat this movement to meet your specifications.

Beat Bad Circulation

Beat Bad Circulation
 by: David Crowton

Are you one of the millions of people in the world suffering from bad blood circulation? With out even knowing it, you might be! You might not necessarily have a lot of symptoms if you are suffering with bad circulation (Peripheral Vascular Disease or PVD.) but you should be aware that it can be treated.

It can also be a signal your body is sending, letting you know something more serious is going on. Like clogged arteries or blood clots. For me the symptoms started very slowly and were minor. I just took it as part of my body falling asleep or that I had slept wrong on my arms or my legs. You dont have to be old to have bad circulation. For me it started in my teens. I was what most people considered over active in sports. Practicing soccer, handball and speed skating about 6 hours a day 7 days a week put a great strain on my body.

After getting injured I was forced to quit all sports which did not go over to well with my body. Veins blew out all over my legs and I noticed that my feet kept going numb quite often. I figured they just went to sleep because I was not used to being still so much. Over the years the numbness spread from my feet up my legs. Still I kept ignoring it. Four children later the numbness had spread to my hands and I could no longer ignore it. This was when my husband came across a book online called Beat Bad Circulation. After him being on me for a long time to read the book I had to. Believe it or not it has helped me a lot.

This book explains bad circulation and things that can help you beat bad circulation. My hands no longer go numb and my legs and feet are better than they have been in years.

Beat Bad Circulation might not be the solution for everybody but if you are suffering from bad blood circulation it is worth reading and it just might help you to. Like I said the name of the book is Beat Bad Circulation. Maybe its all you need to get that blood flowing again and feel well again.

Here are a few statistics on bad circulation:

The body of an adult contains over 60,000 miles of blood vessels!

An adult's heart pumps nearly 4000 gallons of blood each day!

Your heart beats some 30 million times a year!

The average three-year-old has two pints of blood in their body; the average adult at least five times more!

Victorious

Victorious
 by: Doreene Clement

There it is again. I muttered to myself, frustrated as I washed my arm.

Every morning for five or six days in the fall of 2003, I noticed rust-colored sticky stuff appearing on my left forearm and thigh. Finally, to my shock and horror, I discovered that the rust-colored sticky stuff was easily dripping from my left nipple. In disbelief, I collapsed into my bedroom chair, swirling with a mix of grief and fear. I stared at the blank white wall, feeling vacant, distant, disconnected from what Id just seen. I called my doctor and was told this was not an emergency, but did need immediate attention. It could be cancer.

After an exam, the breast cancer specialist made an appointment for a mammogram and ultrasound. They took two sets of two x-rays on each breast and a third x-ray of a specific area of my right breast. In the ultrasound I could see the area of my right breast where theyd done the extra mammogram. There was a dark mass. After the biopsy on my right breast, I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductile carcinoma, a rare, aggressive, deadly cancer that metastasize to the bones and lungs. Next is death. I had symptoms of both bone and lung cancer.

The ultrasound of my left breast showed a trail of little beads, masses from my underarm to my nipple. This couldnt be good, I thought. These masses rubbed against the ducts, causing bleeding and discharge. That was the rust-colored sticky stuff. My left breast was diagnosed with a rare duct disease. My oncologist felt that I also had cancer in this breast. She was deeply concerned, and wanted to immediately remove the mass in my right breast and cut off 1/3 or more of my left breast.

Even before these diagnoses, I had already decided that I didnt want surgery. In my heart, I really didnt believe I would live through a surgery. I preferred an alternative approach. I wanted a fix, not just a partial solution. I chose Mye-Cell treatments in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and worked with Dr. Melenie Dunn, NMD in Scottsdale, AZ. I am now cancer-free.

I have the confirmed belief that each of lifes moments hold a purpose and a gift. I dont always remember to live by these beliefs, but I do always come back to them. I knew that this particular experience with cancer was about trust. It was about my ability to trust in myself and in God. The lesson was about realizing, knowing with every breath and every beat of my heart, that I Am Blessed. We All Are.

Barbell Military Press exercise

Barbell Military Press exercise
 by: John Gibb

The barbell military press is a great exercise for working the deltoids. This exercise can be extremely difficult for the new lifter. Back injury can easily occur if the proper form is not used during execution. Because of this, it is recommended that a spotter be present when doing this exercise.

During this exercise, youll be lifting over your head. Keep this in your mind as you select the amount of weight youll be working with. This exercise can be performed either sitting or standing. If you are lifting alone, you may want perform the exercise sitting so that you can lift the weight off of a bench rack.

To begin the exercise youll need to have someone hand you the weight, lift it off the ground, or de-rack it from a rack. Your hands should be positioned a little further then shoulder length apart. Your hands should be about the same distance, as if you were going to do a normal bench-press.

The barbell should be positioned across the front of your chest with the bar about even with your shoulders. From here, keeping your back straight, lengthen the arms up over your head. Continue this extension until your arms can not extend anymore without locking. From the top position, lower the bar back down to the starting position in a controlled manner.
